When SHWA(UK) was started just over three years ago, we had no resources other than the membership fees of the founder members and donations from some of them. Over the three years since we started, we have put a lot of time and effort into fundraising. Over 30% of our income is generated in this way. We need a constant flow of money in order to pay for medical expenses (neutering, vaccinations, medical treatment etc), staff expenses (especially transport – our volunteers drive many thousands of miles each year on behalf of SHWA) and running costs (although as we have no paid staff, these are kept to a bare minimum).

Volunteers get involved in a great deal of fundraising work on behalf of SHWA(UK), but  donations from the public are gratefully received and will be used directly for our welfare work!

SHWA(UK) officers and members are all unpaid volunteers and all money raised is used in the rehoming and welfare of our dogs.
